I went through three or four microwaves before settling on this one. All I want is a countertop microwave that has:
A +30-second button (or minute-plus)
Instant-on buttons, where you press "1" to start for a minute, or "2" for two minutes, etc.
Surprisingly, the other microwaves that I looked at did not have these features. Instead, they were loaded with features for recipes (press 4-2-1-8 and do a dance to heat your lasagna to perfection!). I'm not sure how anyone could possibly need a feature like this.
I have waited a few months before reviewing this item, to make sure that it works well and that there aren't any first-time use issues that often lead to bad reviews. We are enjoying everything about this, including its look, functionality, and power.
One minor complaint is that the button pad takes just a little more "push" to activate buttons than on my previous microwave. I'm not sure how to compare this to newer microwaves, though. This is a minor complaint though, and not big enough to reduce this five-star rating. Very happy with this purchase.
Received this as a Christmas gift. Just make sure it is absolutely what you want before you buy, because you can't ship it back. Well, you can except you have only 14 days from date of purchased (beyond that since it was a Christmas gift), you have to pay a 20% restock fee, AND you have to pay for the shipping which that costs exceed the cost of the microwave. My disappointment is in it's features or rather lack there of. On this model you cannot use the timer and cook function simultaneously. This may not be a big deal to some, but I would use that function multiple times a week. I called Frigidaire and they confirmed the timer and cook function cannot be used at the same time on the model. I really didn't even realize that was a feature that didn't come on every microwave. It's been on every microwave I've ever purchased and most were cheaper than this, so I didn't know to look for it. I can't speak for how well it cooks or easy of buttons etc... I just know I am sorely disappointed because it lacks what I consider a very basic feature and now I'm stuck w/ it.
